Suneeta Rao is regarded the deadly combination of an accomplished singer, dancer, and stage actress. She was born in Germany in the year 1967, but completed her education for India in St. Xavier`s College, Mumbai. For the last 10 years, she has been performing all over India and abroad in live concerts. In the year 1989, she released her first Hindi Pop album titled `Suneeta Senorita`. The album sold more than 57,000 copies. The music of Suneeta Senorita was composed by Louis Banks. In 1991, Rao released a Hindi Pop album titled `Dhuan` under the banner of the iconic musical company, HMV. The music was composed by Leslie Lewis. After Paree, the divinely shot beautiful song from the album Dhuan, Suneeta Rao became a household name. She was nicknamed by the media as the "Paree of the Masses".
Suneeta Rao`s Life as a Pop Singer
In the year 1999 under the same music company banner (HMV), Rao released a Hindi Pop album entitled `Talaash`. `Dehka Dehka` and `Kesariya` from the album "Talaash" are the two folksy, cheerful tracks that re-established Suneeta Rao at the top of the charts. A new single and music video titled `Chhoti Chhoti Baatein` was released by her as part of the Magnasound album `A Reason to Smile`. The album was released on the occasion of 50 years of Indian Independence. Suneeta Rao also contributed to the album, `Wajah Muskurane Ki` in a group song.
All the above-mentioned albums have occupied the envious position of "no.1" in the Hindi Music Charts (for several weeks), besides going platinum. The album `Ab Ke Baras` has sensuous, lilting, joyous notes that render as sweet music to our ears. The flavour of traditional folk music blended with modern production values can be observed here (in the Ab Ke Baras album). She has also lent her voice for Bollywood films like `Ghulam-e-Mustafa`, `Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge` and `Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye`. For her next album project, Suneeta is scouring for innovative materials. She has also participated in shows held in Pakistan and Africa. Side by side she has performed in quite a few other projects for television, theatre and films. Her first and only engagement with the music maestro A. R. Rahman was in 1994 in a Tamil film named May Madham.
