Shri Nalia Teerth located in Gujarat is a Jain pilgrimage centre. It is one of the five teerths in Abadasa. The temple is dedicated to the principal deity Lord Chandraprabha, Eighth Jain Tirthankara.
History of Shri Nalia Teerth
According to history Shri Nalia Teerth dates back to the ancient times. As per reference the attractive temple was constructed and ceremoniously inaugurated by Naramsimha Natha in 1897 of the Vikram Samvat Era. Thus the name of Sheth Narasimha Natha is popular here for to the vast inn got constructed. The deity is believed to possess great miraculous powers. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees from different places. It is said that by worshipping the Lord with full devotion one can get all their wishes fulfilled.
Temple of Shri Nalia Teerth
The temple of Shri Nalia Teerth houses the deity of Lord Chandraprabha. The temple has been brilliantly decorated with intricate artistic designs in gold. These have been brilliantly carved on stone. It stands as a unique example of ancient architectural beauty. The idol of the Lord is white in colour and almost 75 cm in height. The magnificent glasswork of the temple adorns the beauty of the temple. Apart from the main idol there are almost 176 other Jain idols installed in the temple. Other than this there are again a total of 138 Siddhachakras that decorates the temple. Of these 132 Siddhachakras are made of silver, 4 of them have been made of metal and rest two of sandalwood. There is another temple located near to this temple. it is known as Shri Ashtapadaji Temple which was constructed by Harabham Narsimha Natha in V.S. 1918. The inner apartments of all the three temples are separate. However, it is a single temple. Attractive statues of Shet Nalia teertha is situated at a distance of some 97 km from the temple. The statue is made of marble.
The Temple of Shri Nalia Teetha organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. The temple is surrounded by scenic beauty that attracts and mesmerises the pilgrims.
