Seyal Phulka

Seyal Phulka is a popular Sindhi breakfast and also a popular and easy way to make use of leftover rotis or even bread.

Seyal Phulka, Sindhi CuisineSeyal Phulka is a delicious and famous dish of Sindhi cuisine which is usually made of left over chapatis. It works as a complete meal and is usually served for breakfast. Chapati pieces cooked in garlic, tomato and Indian spices. It is a traditional Sindhi dish which is also called `Seyal Mani`. `Mani` in Hindi language means roti.

Ingredients:

•Wheat Chapati - 5 to 6
Garlic - 6 cloves
Asafoetida a pinch
•Tomatoes - 2 large, grated
Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
•Green chillies - 4 to 5, finely chopped
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 8 to 10
•Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
•Fresh Coriander Leaves - 7 to 8 strips, finely chopped
•Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt as per taste
•Water - 2 cups

Method:

•In a large shallow pan heat oil.
•Add mustard seeds and a pinch of asafoetida.
•Once the mustard seeds begin to crackle. Add garlic and curry leaves. Fry them until golden brownish in colour.
•Add onions and saute until golden.
•Add grated tomato, green chillies and cook for a min and add spices; turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
•Add water and bring mixture to a boil.
•Tear the rotis into bite sized chunks and add to the boiling mixture.
•Let it cook on medium to low flame.
•Cook till water is dried and rotis are soft for about 10 to 15 minutes.
•Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
•One can also sprinkle a little Bhujia over it.
