Sanjauli is the main sub-urban place located in Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh

Sanjauli, Shimla District, Himachal PradeshSanjauli is a main suburb of the city of Shimla, in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Sanjauli is situated below the Jakhu Hill and since 2008 there has been a bypass to Dhalli, which diverts from the main road near Government College and passes through Chaulanthi. Sanjauli has a very wide and long market place spread from Sanjauli Chowk to Tunnel made by the British people. Apart from this Sanjauli has unique architecture of houses. Sanjauli Cemetery is the only cemetery in Shimla that is still in use. Presently it is used by the Indian Christians but originally it was started by British in 1921. Since 2008 Sanjauli has by-pass road to Dhalli diverting from main road to town near Degree College through Chaulanthi.

Education of Sanjauli
Sanjauli is home to the old Government College. This was the first degree college to set up in Shimla in 1969 and the first to be conferred with the status of Centre of Excellence in 2006. The college is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University and stands close to the Indira Gandhi Medical College. Navbhar is the location of the St. Bede`s College Shimla and Jesus And Mary Chelsea Convent School.

Tourism in Sanjauli
As Sanjauli is the sub urban region of Shimla, the city comprises of the Cemetery Road, HB colony, Bhatta Kuffar, Sanjay Van, Dhingu Dhar, Shanan, Navbhar, Chaulanti and areas on the other side of the Sanjauli-Dahli tunnel. The Sanjauli-Dahli tunnel was built at the time when Shimla was the summer capital of British East India Company and the British Government of India. Dhingu Mata Temple is one of the prime attractions of Sanjauli. Sanjauli Cemetery is the only cemetery in Shimla that is still in use. Presently it is used by Indian Christians. Sanjauli Cemetery was originally built by the British Government of India in the year 1921.
