Saktri or Sakti is a priest and eldest son of sage Vasishtha. King Kalmashapada one day met Saktri, in a narrow path in a thicket and desired him to stand out of his way. The sage Saktri refused to move out. . King Kalmashapada beat Saktri with his whip, and Saktri cursed him to become a man-eating Rakshas. The Raja in this transformation killed Saktri and all the other sons of Vasishtha. Parasara was a posthumous son of Saktri. In the twenty-fifth Dwapara Saktri was the Vyasa.
