Early Life of Rekha Bhardwaj
Rekha Bhardwaj always had an inclination for music and had aspired to become a singer. However owing to her husky and not-so-melodious voice, which is the prime requisite for Bollywood, she had always restrained herself from endeavouring in this field. Later she was convinced by her husband after their marriage to venture in the field of singing.

Career of Rekha Bhardwaj
Rekha Bhardwaj stepped into the entertainment industry in the year 2002 with her music album Ishqa Ishqa. The album earned her critical appreciations. At the time when her husband, Vishal Bhardwaj, used to go for music sittings along with Gulzar for his film Maachis, Rekha used to accompany him. It was during this time when Gulzar had said that some day he would write the lyrics for Rekha`s album. She rose to fame with her rendition `Namak Issq Ka` from the movie Omkara, which was written by Gulzar and the music was composed by her husband Vishal. Her song `Sasural Genda Phool` from the movie Delhi-6 also earned her huge success in the world of music. Subsequently she voiced a number of popular songs for Bollywood films like 7 Khoon Maaf, Raavan, Ishqiya, Kaminey, No Smoking, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, D - Day, Dedh Ishqiya and many more. She has also worked as a music assistant of Vishal for the movie Hu Tu Tu.

Achievements of Rekha Bhardwaj
In the year 2011 Rekha Bhardwaj won National Film Award for the Best Female Playback Singer for her song in the movie Ishqiya. In the following year, 2012, she received Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for the song `Darling` from 7 Khoon Maaf, along with Usha Uthup.
