Rao Inderjit Singh

Rao Inderjit Singh is an Indian politician, currently serving as the Minister of State in the Government of Narendra Modi in 16th Lok Sabha. Previously representing the Congress party, he joined BJP in the year 2013.

Being a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he represented Gurgaon constituency in Haryana in 2014 general elections. Belonging to the Ahir community, Rao Inderjit Singh has held several important positions at national level. Previously he has worked as the Cabinet Minister for the Environment, as Minister of State for External Affairs and as Minister of State for Defence Production. Since the year 2009 he has also served the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee. Rao Inderjit Singh previously served the Indian National Congress and resigned from the same on 23rd September 2013, joining BJP.

Early Life of Rao Inderjit Singh
Rao Inderjit Singh was born on 11th February 1950 in a Yadav family to late Rao Birendra Singh. His father was the scion of the Rewari dynasty and was the second Chief Minister of Haryana. Rao Inderjit Singh completed his schooling from Lawrence School, Sanawar and earned his LL.B degree from the University of Delhi.

Political Career of Rao Inderjit Singh
Rao Inderjit Singh has been an MLA for four terms in the Haryana assembly, starting from the year 1977. He served as the provincial Minister of State from 1982 to 1987 in charge of Food and Civil Supplies. In the year 1998 he got elected to the 12th Lok Sabha from Mohindergarh constituency as a Member of Parliament. He served the parliaments for the terms of 1998-1999, 2000-2004, and 2004-2009. He was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Mohindergarh, 15th Lok Sabha from Gurgaon and 16th Lok Sabha from Gurgaon in the year 2004, 2009 and 2014 respectively. Rao Inderjit Singh, Indian Politician He became the Cabinet Minister for the Environment, Forest, Medical and Technical Education from 1991 and 1996 and later from 2004 to 2006 he was designated as the Minister of State for External Affairs. Since 2006 to 2009 he was the Minister of State for Defence Production. He Chaired the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee since the year 2009. He is also known for providing educational facilities in rural areas.

Rao Inderjit Singh is a sports enthusiast. He has been the member of the Indian Shooting Team from 1990 to 2003. He also won a Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Shooting Championship. For three consecutive years he was a National Champion in Skeet. He also bagged Gold Medals in the SAF Games.

Rao Inderjit Singh is married to Smt. Manita Singh since 6th December 1976. The couple is blessed with two daughters.
