The Process of Completion involves reabsorption that is union of the male and the female deities into the yogi`s own heart. The union is manifested in the union of the male and female deities. In the process of completion wisdom and means gets united both externally and internally. The Process of Completion involves a number of steps which ultimately brings about the ultimate enlightenment in the yogi.
External Union
The attainment of the state of union in the process of Completion is achieved along with an external consort and by the means of uniting the lotus and vajra. The external union serves as a mode to bring about absolute bliss in the yogi.
Mudras, the Joys and the Moments
The process of attaining the state of union is marked by four consecrations, which employ four different mudras in which four Joys are experienced at four different Moments. The four mudras are namely the karamudra, samayamudra, dharmamudra and mahamudra are the different stages of the sadhana. The four Joys are, Ordinary Joy, Refined Joy, Joy of Cessation and Innate Joy. The Four Moments are Diverse, Ripening, Dissolving and Signless.
The karmamudra is the physical yogic process of the sadhana. The samayamudra refers to all the symbolic forms employed in the meditative process. They are the symbolic representations of the absolute being and its phenomenal forms, by means of which the sadhaka experiences the real nature of the self.
The dharmamudra is the realisation of the absolute itself, the ultimate element of the dharmas. The mahamudra is the highest goal. The stage of the sadhana is known as Mahamudra Accomplishment. It is characterised as essenceles and devoid of the veils of subjectivity and passions transcending bhava and Nirvana. This is the Innate Joy or Great Bliss.
The first three Joys that are the Ordinary Joy, Refined Joy and the Joy of Cessation are considered alive. The first joy is of this world, similarly the Refined Joy is of this world and the Joy of Cessation is also of this world. The Innate does not exist in these three. The Innate is free of these three relative Joys. The Innate Joy can only be directly experienced.
According to the Tantric Buddhism it has been asserted that perfect knowledge of bliss arises only from a perfect knowledge of the Moments. The Four Mudras, the Four Joys and the Four Moments are experienced at the four Cakras associated with the four Kayas. The Four Cakras are again associated with the three bodies as well as Body, Speech and Mind which are the essence of the Five Aggregates of Phenomenal Awareness. Mahasukha is considered as the union of the three bodies as well as that of Body, Speech and Mind.
Union as an Internal Process
The Attainment of the State of Unity may be carried out as an internal process of reintegration. The internal union is called the generation of the bodhichitta. It is based on the tantric concept of the subtle body as composed of nadis and cakras. The two internal nadis, lalana and rasana constitute the sphere of samsara. They are visualized as Wisdom and Means in the process. The initial part of the process consists in harnessing thought to the breathing process so that the mind does not wander.
Finally it can be concluded saying that in the Process of Completion the two principles Wisdom and Means are united. This process is both external and internal. In the external process these two principles are identified with the yogi and the yogini. Thus through these two-fold processes the yogi realises within himself the ultimate reality as non-dual bliss.
