In the epic Mahabharata, Prativindya was one of the sons of Yudhishthira and Draupadi. Yudhisthira was the King of Indraprastha.
When the Pandavas come of age, king Dhritarashtra seeks to avoid a conflict of the Pandavas with his sons, the Kauravas. He gave them half the Kuru kingdom. But the lands given were albeit the lands, which were dry, parched, not prosperous and poorly populated. The land was known as Khandavaprastha.
With the help of Lord Krishna, Viswakarma the Deva architect constructed a new city, Indraprastha. The Asura architect Mayasura constructs the Mayasabha, which is the largest regal assembly hall in the world. Yudhisthira is crowned king of Khandavaprastha and Indraprastha. As he governs with absolute piousness, with a strict adherence to duty and service to this people, his kingdom grows prosperous, and people from all over are attracted to it.
