Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa, Indian AthletePramila Gudanda Aiyappa is an Indian athlete who made her official debut for the 2000 Summer Olympics which was held in Sydney. There she placed herself twenty-fourth in the women`s heptathlon event, with a total score of 5,548 points.

Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa is also known as Prameela Ganapathy. Heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. The name heptathlon is derived from the Greek word "hepta" which means seven and "athlon" which means contest. Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa like others heptathlete is the pride of Indian after achieving the score of 5548 points. She had her other batch mates like Soma Biswas, J. J. Shobha, Sushmitha Singha Roy.

Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa was born on May 8, in the year 1977 in Kodagu District of Karnataka. She later settled in Jharkhand. She is an Indian heptathlete. Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa made her official debut for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where she placed twenty-fourth in the women`s heptathlon event, with a total score of 5,548 points.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa made a comeback from her eight-year absence to compete for the second time in women`s heptathlon, along with her fellow athletes Shobha Javur and many Indian heptathletes.

Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa initially placed twenty-eighth out of forty-three heptathletes in the event. There she made a total score of 5,771 points. But she was elevated to a single higher position, when Lyudmila Blonska of Ukraine stripped of her silver medal after she tested positive for methyl testosterone hormone secretion artificially.

Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa also known as Prameela Ganapathy represented India, as the host nation representative at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which was held in Delhi from October 3 to October 4. 2010 Commonwealth Games were considered to be the largest multi-sport event conducted in India, which has previously hosted the Asiad Games in 1951 and 1982. There she nearly missed out of medal contention in the heptathlon, finishing only in fifth place, with a total score of 5,330 points.

Pramila Gudanda Aiyappa is presently working with Indian Railways.
