Panaikkulam Abdul Majid was a well known Tamil poet and scholar from the twentieth century. One of his most important compositions is the work of Nayaka Venpa.

Panaikkulam Abdul Majid was an eminent author, poet and scholar from the Tamil country who lived in the twentieth century. The poet composed a number of literary and poetic works in Tamil language. Panaikkulam Abdul Majid was a hermit poet who lived the reclusive life. The Tamil Muslim poet composed several religious and devotional works that exemplify the ideas and customs of Islamic religion that made significant contribution in Tamil Islamic literature and are certainly praiseworthy. Amongst the various compositions of Panaikkulam Abdul Majid, the literary works of Tamil Nattu Islamiyap Pulavarkal, Ilakkiyappunka and Kavippuncolai have gained immense popularity. Some of his compositions are of religious and devotional nature, while some other works comprises of philosophical and ethical subject matters. One of the most prominent works of the Tamil poet Panaikkulam Abdul Majid is titled the Nayaka Venpa.

All of the literary and poetic works of Panaikkulam Abdul Majid contains literary merit and possess a rich style. The Tamil Muslim poet has composed the verses in a very simple yet, fascinating and beautiful manner that will captivate the minds of the readers. The poetic works composed in Tamil language depict the eagerness and enthusiasm of the author to portray reality and truth as he himself had conceived and understood it. The work of the Nayaka Venpa elaborately describes the various tales and stories related to the life of Prophet Muhammad, from his early life to his various escapades. The work is deeply enriched with the imagination and inventiveness of the Tamil Muslim poet and consists of abundant similes composed in the venpa metre, as found in Tamil literary tradition. The verses constructed by the author in venpa metre are very similar to the literary work of Nalavenpa, composed by Pukalenti.

Panaikkulam Abdul Majid followed the established literary conventions of the epics in Tamil literature while writing the work of Nayaka Venpa. Other than this, his other verses and hymns also gained much popularity in the Tamil country. His compositions comprises of vivid descriptions, illustrations and philosophical ideas and thoughts related to Islam. Panaikkulam Abdul Majid is most popular for his compositions of rhythmic poems. His poetic compositions are considered of great significance in Tamil literature.
