Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi has been named after one of the most popular Sufi saints, Nizamuddin Auliya. Nizamuddin Dargah is located in the west of Nizamuddin area in Delhi. This dargah is a well known sacred place which is visited by thousands of Muslim every year.

Nizamuddin Dargah, Monument of DelhiNizamuddin Dargah is the sacred mausoleum of most popular Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Located across the Humayun`s tomb in Delhi this dargah is revered by all the Muslims all over the world. This dargah also includes devotees from other religion like the Hindus, Muslims and Christians who equally believe on the miracles of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Built by Muhammad Tughlaq of Delhi Sultanate this mausoleum also include the tombs of Amin Khusrau, who was one of the eminent Muslim poets and Jahan Ara Begum along with the tomb of Inayat Khan which are located in the complex of Nizamuddin Auliya`s tomb.

Nizamuddin Dargah is one biggest pilgrimage for the Muslims all over the world. The tomb of Hazarat Nizammuddin is located at the centre of the dargah complex surrounded by the tombs of Jahan-ara- begum, the beloved daughter of Shah Jahan, Amin Khusrau and Mirza Galib who are the celebrated poets among the Muslims. With these tombs the dargah is surrounded with a busy market complex along with a small colony of staunch Muslims who live in that area. According to the legends Hazarat Nizaqmuddin Auliya had been responsible in spreading Sufism to every corner of India. Born in 1236 and known as Shaikh Nizamuddin, he came to Delhi along with his mother and became a disciple of famous saint Sheikh Farid of Shakargunj from which time Auliya developed his spiritual superiority. It is often said that Hazarat Nizamuddin was the first to predict that the city of Tughlaqabad which was the capital of Delhi sultanate would never prosper to glory and Ghias-ud-din Tughlaq will never return to Delhi to rule the sultanate. His prediction came true. Since then it was believed that whatever Hazarat Nizamuddin Auliya predicted would come true which was believed by all his followers. Hazarat Nizamuddin died in 1325 when he was engraved in this beautiful Mausoleum that was constructed by Muhammad Tughlaq who decorated it with white marbles inscriptions from Holy Quran.

Nizamuddin Dargah has been renovated from time to time but the present tomb was constructed in 1526. The Dargah complex which is considered to be the sacred place for all enjoys series of rhythmic Qawwaalis every evening and celebrates the festival of Urs twice a year which is to commemorate the death and anniversaries of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and Amin Khusrau every year.

Thus, as one of sacred pilgrimage of Delhi this place holds a lot of significance in the history of Delhi. With its decorative tomb it has attracted huge number of tourists who visit the Dargah along with the devotees of the saint.
