Namrata Mohanty is an Odiya singer based in Odisha, who has also sung the Oriya translations of Nazrul Geeti.

Namrata Mohanty, Nazrul Geeti SingersNamrata Mohanty is an Odiya singer from Cuttack, Odisha, who is also asociated with All Indian Radio in Cuttack since 1983. She has sung the Oriya translations of Nazrul Geeti; the songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Apart from that, Namrata has sung several songs in Oriya language some of which are "Eitthi Khusi", "Tu Chandrama", "Dheu Ase", "Dina Sabu", "Kichhi Kahibi Kahibi", "Ki Dinare", "Ya Bidhi Manko Lagawei" etc.

Early Life of Namrata Mohanty
Namrata Mohanty has completed her graduation from Brahmapur University in Science, following which she was pursuing her masters but could not complete it due to illness. Mohanty received her Hindustani Classical training from legendary musicians like Dhananjay Satapathy, A. Maheswar Rao and Shantanu Das.

Career of Namrata Mohanty
Namrata Mohanty released her first solo album in the year 2009 titled "Janhare Tolide Ghara". The lyrics was of Bijaya Malla, Nizam and Arun Mantri and the songs were composed by Om Prakash Mohanty. Then her second solo Oriya album was "Dipa Jale Dipa Libhe" released in 2010. Mohanty even recovered some of the lost and unpublished lyrics of legendary songwriter-singer-composer of Odisha, Akshaya Mohanty.

Later she released two more solo albums of her in 2014 titled "Chhuti" and "Ninad". "Chhuti" is a collection of 12 modern Oriya songs written by Bijaya Malla and composed by Om Prakash Mohanty. The later one is a collection of eight traditional Hindi Bhajans written by saint-poets like Tulsidas, Surdas, Meera Bai, Kabir and Lalit Kishori. Veteran composer A. Maheswar Rao composed the songs of this album. After that, Mohanty has also sung the translated songs of Nazrul Islam known as Nazrul Geeti. Veteran lyricist and composer Swaroop Nasik has translated 12 selected songs of Nazrul Islam into Oriya language.
