Mohammad Hasan was an Urdu scholar and dramatist born in the year 1926.

Mohammad Hasan was born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, in 1926. He studied at Lucknow University from where he earned a doctoral degree in Urdu literature. He taught at the Lucknow, Aligarh Muslim, Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. Hasan wrote over a dozen plays on social and historical subjects, staged by amateur Urdu theatre groups in different parts of the country. His drama is marked by an emphasis on socio-political implications and literary sophistication. Zahaq in 1975 is perhaps the most interesting. Based on a tale from Firdausi`s Shahnama, it had a parabolic significance in the political climate of the mid-1970s.
