Megha Jagawat is an emerging Kathak dancer in India. One of the most brilliant young Kathak dancers, her performances have always enthralled the audiences. Over the years she has polished her art by strenuous training and riyaz and has won appreciation from the audience all over the world.
Early Life of Megha Jagawat
It was at the tender age of 4 that she began dancing under the guidance of her mother. Being a graduate in commerce, she did her post graduation in ancient history and then mass communication and journalism.
She began her formal training in Kathak from the year 1998, under the guru shishya parampara. Along her academic education, she pursued the Masters degree in Kathak from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow in the year 2005-06, under the guidance of her guru Pandit Girdhari Maharaj, the great maestro of Kathak dance who belongs to the Jaipur gharana.
Megha Jagawat got married in the family of her guru and hence got the chance to polish her skills further. She worked on the delicacies of abhinaya along with her husband Kamal Kant, a renowned dancer in France and Europe.
Being an acknowledged dancer, Megha Jagawat is also a well known compere for Rajasthan Doordarshan, and All India Radio. She has been appearing as an anchor and presenter for many private channels of Rajasthan and also international channels giving wider coverage in South-East Asian countries.
She is also working as an official compere for almost all the major classical dance and music festivals organised by Rajasthan Tourism, and also all other major festivals. Naming a few would be International Pushkar fair, international elephant festival, Kumbhalgarh classical dance festival, Nagaur festival, Desert Festival and so on.
Being a real artist, she has showed her potentials in many telefilms, at national and international level and won accolades everywhere.
Megha Jagawat is now running a project "Triwat Voyage" along with her husband Kamal Kant to bring couple of students every year in their gurukul, Shri Laxmi Narayan Nrityashram and train them in music (both vocal and instrumental) and dance.
