Mangalore University is a public university that is located in Konaje in Karnataka. It offers higher education and conducts research in various fields.

Mangalore University, Konjae, KarnatakaMangalore University caters to the educational needs of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu of Karnataka. It is ranked with a four star by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It provides higher education in field of arts, commerce, science, law and management.

The University has 25 Post-Graduate Departments on the Campus, two constituent colleges, 4 law, 13 education, 5 autonomous and 119 affiliated colleges.

History of Mangalore University
The undivided Dakshina Kannada or South canara district was under jurisdiction of University of Mysore. There was an increasing demand for a local university in the early 1970s. In late 1970s a post graduation centre of Mysore University was set up at Mangaluru. To satisfy the demand for separate university Mangalore University was set up on September 10, 1980. It is the first university in India to start Bachelor`s degree programmes in Hotel Management, Fashion Design, Garment Design, Leather Design and Human Resource Development and Post- Graduate programmes in Computer Software and Yogic Sciences.

Courses offered at Mangalore University
Mangalore University offers undergraduate and post graduate level courses. Some of the post graduate courses include: Master of Commerce (MCom), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Physical Education (MPED), Master of Arts (MA) - Kannada, Master of Science (MSc) - Biosciences, Master of Science (MSc) - Applied Botany.
