Madh Island Beach is mainly a group of small farmlands and villages and is nestled comfortably on the north-west coast of Mumbai. The area is bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Malad creek on the east. The area is a rural area inhabited by Kolis, Marathi and East Indian Roman Catholics in Madh village as well as by people from other communities too. Many Bollywood movies like "Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega", "Baazigar", "Shootout at Wadala", and Manmohan Desai`s 1985 movie "Mard", "Zamana Deewana", "Khalnayak", "Shatranj", and "Tarazu" were shot at this location. And some soap operas have also been shot at this venue, which are "Naamkarann", "Chandrakanta" and "CID".

The beaches here are not ideal for swimming due to the shallow water and under current, but the place is popular for its peacefulness and calmness. Madh Island Beach is very clean and unpolluted. One can explore the fishing villages around the island.

Madh Fort: Madh Fort, also known as `Versova Fort`, is a structure that was built by the Portuguese in the 17th Century. This fort was utilized as a watchtower and used for training cadets.

St. Bonaventure: Situated very close to the beach, `St. Bonaventure`, is an ancient church, built in the 16th century by the Portuguese.

The best time to visit Madh Island is from October to June. At this time of the year, there is less humidity and the weather is pleasant. Madh Island Beach is well-connected by roads. People can therefore, easily hire a vehicle to reach the beach. State buses are available from many parts of Mumbai. The nearest railway station to the beach is situated at Malad district.
