Kshetrajna, Hindu Mythology

Kshetrajna is a Sanskrit word which is derived from the words `kshetrai` means field (body) and `jna` means knower. Thus Kshetrajna is the embodied spirit, or that which knows the Kshetra, `body`. This is a form of Lord Vishnu, implying the combination of spirit with form or matter, for the purpose of creating.

Kshetrajna is referred as the knower of the field; embodied spirit, the conscious ego in its highest manifestations. This is regarded as the sphere of action, or compounded constitution, of the knower or conscious entity. Thus Kshetrajna is the spiritual ego, the human soul`s spiritual parent that is `buddhi-manas`.

Kshetrajna is also stated as the combination of `atma-buddhi-manas` called the reincarnating ego, or the Lord, in us. As embodied ego, it is the cognizing and recognizing element in the human constitution.

The perishable body is the son of Kunti, is known as Kshetra. Those who are familiar with the true nature of things are called the soul and who knows it, is the Kshetrajna.
