Krishna Chandra Majumdar

Krishna Chandra Majumdar (1834-1907) is the author of some popular songs and some religious and didactic poems. Sadbhav-satak is considered the best. He was born in the village of Senhati in khulna district. He later took lessons in Sanskrit and Persian and served as head Pandit in 1854. He became a pundit at Dhaka Normal School.

In 1860, Krishna Chandra he was appointed as the editor of the monthly Manoranjika and kavitakusumavali. Thereafter in 1861 he was the editor of the Dhaka Prakash. In 1865 he was appointed as the editor of the weekly Bijnapani in 1865. He became the editor of the Dhaka Prakash again after one and half a year. He returned to teaching and was appointed as the head pandit at the Jessore Zilla School, from where he retired in 1893.

He edited and published the magazine Dvaibhasiki in 1886. Sadbhabashatak (1861) was written inspired by the Persian poets, Hafiz and Sadi. The poetic-drama Mohabhog (1871) was based on the Vasav-Nahus Sangbad episode of the Mahabharata. He has also written an autobiography, Raser Itibrtta (1868), and a philosophical treatise, Kaivalyatattva (1883).
