Ka is a name of a Prajapati, the creator of the universe. Prajapati is the Hindu God and the protector of life. Ka is also referred to Vishnu or Shiva. Ka is the epitome of Time, Fire and the Sun.
In the Vedas there are many hymns which are dedicated to the Ka. At the time of Panini, the word `Ka` meant a Brahman. In the Puranas `Ka` appears as a renowned god, the supreme god is represented with his family and himself. In the Mahabharata, `Ka` is compared with Daksha. In the Bhagavata Purana `Ka` is compared with Kashyapa, for their great generative powers and similarity to Prajapati. Thus `Ka` means the god who presides over the excretory and generative organs.
