Joy Goswami, Bengali PoetJoy Goswami is considered as one of the best poets post Jibanananda das period. He was born in the year 1954, November 10 in Kolkata. Thereafter his family had moved to Ranaghat and lived there ever since. He started writing poetry at an early age. He was writing in little magazines and periodicals that were published in the magazine Desh that brought immediate critical acclaim. His first poetry collection was named Christmas o Sheeter Sonnetguchchho. He has received awards like the Anita-Sunil Basu Award from the Bangla Academy, Ananda Purashkar in 1989 for Ghumiyechho, Jhaupata and the Sahitya Akademi Award (2000) for his anthology Pagali tomara sange

Literary Works of Joy Goswami
At a young age of 19, his poems were published in three little magazines. His poems invoke a mysterious landscape and visionary all at once. His compositions are: Christmas o Sheeter Sonnetguchchho (1976), Protnojeeb (1978), Aleya Hrod (1981), Unmader Pathokromo (1986), Bhutumbhogoban (1988) Ghumiyechho Jhaupata? (1989), Jara Brishtite Bhijechhilo, Santansantati, Moutat, Maheswar, Sakalbelar Kobi, Mrito Nagorir Raja.

The Published works by Joy Goswami that have been listed in the Library of Congress are: Bajrabidyu_t-bharti khata, Bishada, Hrdaye premera `sirsha, Jaga_tabari, Kabitasamgraha, Ma nishada, Manoramera upanyasa, Oh svapna!, Pagali, tomara sange, Patara po`saka, Pretapurusha o anupama katha, Raudrachayara samkalana, Sam`sodhana ba katakuti, Sanjhabatira rupakathara, Seisaba seyalara, Shanjhbati`s dreams, Suranga o pratiraksha, Surya-pora chai and Yara brshtite bhijechila

He has composed twenty-five collections of poetry, ten novels and a looks after the poetry section. He is innovative, sensuous and imagistic. His poetries became prominent in the 1970s. He has won numerous awards like the Ananda Puraskar (in 1990 and 1998) and Sahitya Akademi Award in 2000.
