Bollywood Debut and Career of Girish Kumar
An ethnic Sindhi, Girish Kumar was born on January 30, 1989. He signed up for his first hindi film "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", a romance comedy directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by his father Kumar S. Taurani, the managing director of Tips Industries Limited. In the film, he played the role of Ram, a rich foreigner, the role showing how agile and open the character truly is. Girish trained under Prabhu Deva for three and a half years before the production of the film. To launch Girish, Prabhu Deva was signed close to three years back. Prabhu Deva decided to have an audition for him, where Girish performed a few scenes and also a dance number. Prabhu loved his performance and thought that Girish had an X factor, only needing to polish some rough edges and become more spontaneous. He talked with Girish"s parents about giving him some training on dance and later, he selected some 25 songs and gave them to Girish to practice upon. He also appointed a few choreographers who worked on a daily basis with Girish, in order to prepare him well for all formats of dance that were required for films.

Girish was also overweight and had to take up to bodybuilding during his 3-year training sessions. A trainer from South Africa was brought on board, under whom Girish trained. It was one of his most significant achievements that he developed six pack abs within mere 3 weeks. For the first appearance of Girish in "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", director Prabhu Deva and cinematographer Kiran Deohans were planning a special introductory scene that was completely new to Bollywood. Marking his first ever appearance on the big screen, Girish made a dare devilish surfing sequence that hasn`t been attempted in Hindi films thus far. International surfing expert Christopher Bryan from Hawaii, United States was given the charge of the underwater sequences with Girish, which were shot in Australia. Girish was trained at Mantra Surf Club near Mangalore for the purpose.

Girish Kumar, Bollywood Actor"Ramaiya Vastavaiya" released on July 19, 2013, to earning little praise from critics and underperforming at the box office. While film critic Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave an average review on Girish"s performance, commenting, "being a first-timer, there are some rough edges, but the fact is, he`s photogenic and goes through the rigmarole with confidence", another critic Sarit Ray of Hindustan Times gave a less favourable review on his portrayal, saying, "His dancing, unfortunately is only slightly less stiff than his acting". Girish"s second film "Loveshhuda" released on February 19, 2016, another romantic comedy opposite Navneet Kaur Dhillon. He played the role of Gaurav, a man who drinks and then wakes up with a girl he doesn`t know. The film failed at the box office. Girish is reported to have signed another film, "Soldier 2", the remake of the 1998 Bobby Deol-Preity Zinta starrer "Soldier", releasing sometime in 2016.
