Dubla tribes of Assam are another tribal community that intensifies the ethnicity of Indian culture and tradition with theirs. Apart from the Assam valley, these Dubla tribal communities also are found in other state of Indian subcontinent like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.
The language of the Dubla tribes is known as Dubla language. It is a type of Bhil language, which falls into the famous Indo-Aryan language family.
The entire Dubla community can be divided into 20 sub divisions. Talavias are the highest social rank holders in the Dubla society. The social and cultural life of the Dubla tribal groups adds charm to their life as different festivals and occasions are part of their lives.
Following the tradition of the tribal life of the Indian subcontinent, these Dubla tribes too have got a rich heritage of tradition as has been exemplified in elements like dancing, singing, festivals etc. The Gheria dance is the main dancing form which maximum of the Dubla tribes fete in great ebullience. Other dancing forms include the masking dance, the Dhol dance. Throughout the year, this Dubla tribal community fete all the fairs and festivals of national importance with lots of enthusiasm and exuberance. Most of the Dublas of Hindu caste and they revere their priest, bhagat for spiritual guidance.
