He is an installation artist whose work achieved massive heights in the post-liberalization period of Indian economy. Most of his works have been exhibited internationally and have also received many awards at various art academies. Devajyoti Ray is popularly known for his special genre of work known as Pseudorealism that involves the use of off-beat colours and abstract shapes to arrive at an imagery which looks as comprehensible as real.

Devajyoti Ray lives and works in all major metro cities in India like; Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Life of Devajyoti Ray
Devajyoti Ray studied Economics at Presidency College, Kolkata. Later he started to organize various shows at numerous Indian cities. He came up with a name for his form of art in the year 2003 and named it as Pseudorealism It was noted as an original Indian Art form by the press following his own definition.

Like BR Panesar and Sunil Das, Ray too had initially worked as a government officer, but later through his own talent entered the world of art. Like many of his contemporaries, his work is also independent of any particular styles and follows his own creative directives.

The word Pseudorealism which is often attached to Ray`s works is in fact a term that was associated with films but Ray had drafted it according to his own needs to create a new style of visual imagery where he uses offbeat colours and shapes to create a pseudo-balance. It is thus a style that is rooted in the new Indian reality and in a way marks a new phase in Art of post-liberalization India
