Most of the L shaped buildings are used to serve some purpose or the other. While some of these are schools and colleges others are used as hospitals and government buildings. However not all the directions of the plots are beneficial. On order to maintain an L shaped building it is necessary to know the pros and cons of such buildings and what to construct in which direction.

L type construction towards the West and the South is considered auspicious as per the standards of Vastu Shastra because the North and the East sides remain completely open. However it is not quite beneficial to construct on the East and the North side of the plots. It is due to the fact that the West and the South sides in these plots remain open. Open spaces in these directions generate a lot of negative energy. It is very bad. The only remedy for this type of construction is to construct taller buildings than the previous buildings to the South and the West sides.

L shaped buildings that have buildings in the North and the West sides are considered unfavorable. According to Vastu Shastra it is inauspicious to keep the Southern side open. Construction of heavy and taller building at the south side is the only remedy. If this is not done then the owner or the residents will have to bear heavy losses. When the buildings are constructed in the East and the South sides of the plot it is said that heavy constructions in the East should be avoided. To counteract the effect another big building at the West side needs to be build.
