Charvaka is a Rakshasa, who disguised himself as a mendicant Brahman and condemned Yudhishthira at his installation as Raja. As per Mahabharata, the real Brahmans were very enraged with Charvaka at his conduct. So, they looked upon Charvaka with such angry eyes that he fell upon the ground like a tree struck with lightning, and was burnt to ashes on the spot.
