Chandra Sekhar Bhanja

Chandra Sekhar Bhanja, born in the Odisha state of India, was the practitioner of Mayurbhanj Chhau.

Chandra Sekhar Bhanja was one of the exponents of Chhau Nritya which is an Indian folk dance form. He was born in the year 1912. His birthplace was in Baripada, Odisha. He studied Chhau from his father, Bisweswara Bhanja, as well as from Bhabani Shankarjit, Jogendra Kunwar, and Raghunath Singh Chauhan. The ruling family of Mayurbhanj noticed his talent in dancing and employed him in the durbar troupe. He won great popularity as a member of the Dakshinsahi group. Following the dissolution of princely states after Post Independent India, he taught disciples at the Chhau Training Centre in Baripada. Chandra Sekhar Bhanja was honoured with the Sangeet Natak academy award.
