Chakma script belongs to the Brahmic type. The consonant letters have a vowel. Consonant clusters have been written with conjunct characters and a visible vowel killer shows how the inherent vowel has been deleted when there is no conjunct.
Chakma also uses the MAAYYAA in order to invoke conjoined consonants. Chakma is encoded with two vowel-killing characters so that they conform to the expectations of modern user. Most letters have their vowels killed as Maayaa has been used explicitly. No separate conjunct forms of subjoined full-form -ya or -ra exist. The -na conjunct, is perfect of the orthographic shift which has taken place in Chakma language. Chakma Language is Indo european therefore the standard Brahmic sorting order applies here also.
Chakma letters have a descriptive name that is followed by a traditional Brahmic consonant. These are given in annotations. Alongside a single and double danda punctuation is given. Chakma also has a unique question mark, and a section sign, Phulacihna. There is some variation in the glyphs for the Phulacihna. Set of digits exists though Bengali digits are also used.
