Bengali cinema producers have come a long way towards helping and promoting new cinema scripts. In the present day we see many new and potential faces coming up in the film circuit that are young, energetic and are not afraid to invest on good and promising projects. If one delves into the history of Bengali cinema it might be well found out that, in the earlier times the directors like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Agradoot produced their films which were directed by them too.
But with time things changed for the better. A more organised system came into being and thus there was more financial aid for the Bengali film industry. The Bengali cinema producers invested not only in the commercial movies but they also agreed to finance the offbeat films. At a time when Satyajit Ray or Ritwik Ghatak were making films they could hardly find producers for financing their films and they had a torrid time to work on their projects. But these things slowly disappeared and things took better shape with the emergence of stars like Prasenjit. Apart from the regular Bengali cinema producers the Bengali actors too aided the industry so that it could survive.
In the contemporary times however there are many new producers. Recently we had a production house being launched by Parambrata Chatterjee and Rudranil Ghosh, both of whom are popular actors of Bengali Film Industry, named "Workshop".
Moreover the with emergence of Bengali directors like Rituparno Ghosh, Gautam Ghose, Sandip Ray, Anjan Dutta, Aparna Sen, Kaushik Ganguly and others the entire scenario in the Bengali film industry drastically altered.
Presently Tollywood looks secured in the hands of the keen Bengali cinema producers and able directors.
