Bashir Ahmad Qadri is a Kashmiri actor and also famous as a director. Born in 1953, he started working in theatre in 1971 and founded the Kashmir Cultural Society, which played a significant role in the modernization of Kashmiri theatre. He used his educational experience in television production, mass communication, and journalism to write scripts, produce, and direct stage plays and `television drama`. All these won him remarkable popularity. He skillfully draws upon folk theatre for colourful and comic effects. Some of his successful plays are Vaqtuk alav i.e. `Call of the Hour`, Kus lagyi davas or `Who Is to Face Trial`, Anyigot or `Darkness`, Yityi chhu sapdan i.e. `This Too Happens`, Az tiatipagah i.e. `Today or Tomorrow`, Katryiv amarath i.e. `Terracotta Home`, and Dayi sund insaf i.e. `God`s Justice`.
