Bajrang Punia, Wrestlers in IndiaBajrang Punia is an India freestyle wrestler from Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana. He won the gold medal in the men`s freestyle 65 kilograms category in 2018 Commonwealth Games. He works as Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with Indian Railway and his family has demanded for Deputy Superintendent of police post with Haryana Police. He was born on 26 February 1994.

Career of Bajrang Punia
Bajrang Punia started wrestling at the age of seven and was encouraged to pursue the sport by his father. In 2013 World Wrestling Championships, he won the bronze medal in the men`s freestyle 60 kilograms category by qualifying for the bronze medal bout through the repechage round. Then he won the silver medal in the men`s freestyle 61 kilograms category in 2014 Commonwealth Games, after losing 1-4 to David Tremblay of Canada. In 2014 Asian Games, he won the silver medal in the men`s freestyle 61 kilograms category. In 2017 May, he won a gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championship held at Delhi. He won the gold medal in the men`s freestyle 65 kilograms category in 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Bajrang Punia is the recipient of Dave Schultz Memorial Tournament, 2013 - Silver, Dave Schultz Memorial Tournament, 2015 - Gold and Arjuna Award in 2015.
