Amongst various important languages that belong to the Indo-Aryan family, Bagri is significant. It is a dialect of Rajasthani language. Near about five million various districts of Rajasthan like Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar; in Haryana, Sirsa and Hissar districts; Firozepur and Muktsar districts of Punjab; speak Bagri. As per a recent survey, in the year 1994, Bagri speakers are 1,721,000; while there are 1,921,000 Bagri speakers present through out the world. Few people of Madhya Pradesh and a handful of nomads of India speak Bagri.
Bagri is a language that has got sound phonemics. It is a distinctive language of the Indo-Aryan family having `SOV word order`. The prevalence of three lexical tones, namely, high, level, and low, makes phonology of Bagri quite significant.
