Asmita Kar Mahapatra

Asmita Kar Mahapatra is a budding Odissi dancer who hails from India.

Asmita Kar Mahapatra, Indian DancerDaughter of Guru Chitaranjan Acharya, Asmita Kar Mahapatra was inducted to the world of Indian classical dance at the tender age of five. At the age of 10 years, from the year 1986 she started executing her stage performances at several cultural programmes. At that time she was assisting her father in exhibiting the performance. After being established as the accomplished dancer, Asmita Kar Mahapatra executed in many highly esteemed seminars, workshops and festivals arranged by State and National Sangeet Natak Academy and Habitat World, New Delhi. In most of the Jugalbandi pieces, Asmita assisted her father. Presently she is pursuing further training under the expert tutelage of illustrious Odissi dancer Smt. Madhavi Mudgal.

Apart from her dancing skills, Asmita Kar Mahapatra has also obtained Master`s degree in Pol. Science from the Utkal University in the year 2000. In the year 1997, she obtained M.A /Ratna in Hindi from Wardha university. From Utkal University in the year 1997, she has done Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Travelling Management. Under Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, she obtained M.A in Odissi Dance in the year 1996. to her credit she has stagged several projects on `Classical Dances of India and their contribution to the promotion of Tourism`.

Asmita Kar Mahapatra presently involved in the research work of her father. The research work is mainly concentrating in the enrichment of Odissi dance style. She is also looking after Delhi branch of "The Legacy Of Art". Nrutt hastas,Bhumi charis and Akas charis from Natya Shastra are the solo performances executed by Asmita Kar Mahapatra. She has also exhibited "The Bramhanda"(space) in Odissi style. Zakir Hussain did the music composition. Another one is "The Breath of Life" in Odissi style. Music by Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasiya.
