Anubhavamrita is a vairagya treatise, which is available only in the Dravidian languages. It is almost unknown in other parts of India. In 1852, Dr. Ballantyne informed the writer that none of the pundits in the Benaras College knew of the work. Anubhavamrita contains a treatise on the Upanishads, a sort of explanation of Pantheism. It shows that the existence of a material world cannot be proved because all that Maya recommends is retirement from domestic life and meditation, in order to the soul`s purification and final beatitude.
