Ankong-Tawl

Ankong-Tawl which is another important ritual of the Kuki tribe defines the food items which were to be taken by the eligible families. The ritual of Ankong-Tawl allows the husband, wife and the son who have passed through the stages of Tuolsuo Ritual to sit and dine together though the menu differs. It also lays down a list of items that are to be served to the husband. This includes one plate of boiled chicken which includes the entire chicken which is only for the husband. For three of the every plate shall include one gourd of `Zu", one plate of pork, one plate of rice. The food which is enlisted in the ritual carries a lot of significance as it varies with the social status of the family member. According to the ritual the wife is supposed to sit on the left side of the husband while the son sits on the right side. The food items of the mother and son differs from that of the father.

Thus Ankong-Tawl is one of the social rituals which are followed with lot of reverence. This is mainly significant for locating the social status in the Kuki tribes.
