Allan Schofield was born on January 26, 1957. He is a former celebrated field hockey goalkeeper and hails from India. He was a member of the gold medal winner Indian National Hockey team at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

In the Moscow Olympics, India played a total of 6 matches, of which the team won 4 matches, and 2 other matches were draws. The Indian national hockey team scored a total of 43 goals in the entire tournament. India performed outstandingly well in the final match, which was against Spain. India beat Spain by 4-3, and finally achieved a gold win for the nation. Other than the excellent Allan Schofield as goalkeeper, the team comprised of Vasudevan Bhaskaran as the captain, Rajinder Singh, Amarjit Singh Rana, Charanjit Kumar, Ravinder Pal Singh, Sommayya Maneypande, Zafar Iqbal, Bir Bahadur Chhetri, Mohammed Shahid, Surinder Singh Sodhi, Amarjit Singh Rana, Sylvanus Dung Dung, Gurmail Singh, Davinder Singh and many others.

India participated in the second edition of the Champions Trophy and ended up 5th among 7 the countries that participated. The team which had played comprised of Arvind Chhabra, Surjit Singh, Davinder Singh, Sylvanus Dung Dung, Ravinder Pal Singh, Ajitpal Singh, V Bhaskaran, Gurmail Singh, VJ Philips, Charanjit Kumar, Sukhbir Singh Gill, Surinder Singh Sodhi, Zafar Iqbal, Mohammad Shahid and Merwyn Fernandes.
