Srinivasapuram Krishnaswamy was born on January 1943 in Channei.Srinivasapuram Krishnaswamy was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in the year of 1961.During the war against Pakistan for flying the Gnat fighter aircraft and exceptional performances he was mentioned in the Dispatches. After he went to UK for a high quality Pilot training course. After completing the training he came back to India and was appointed to the Air Force Flight Test Centre - Aircraft and System Training Establishment (ASTE). In this time He was associated with flight-testing and assessment of Military as well as the appraisal civil aircraft and weapon. In 1999 he was awarded the `Agni Award for Self Reliance` for his excellent performances in the evaluation programme. He had the experiences of flying over 4000 hours. He led more than 30 aircrafts and helicopters. As a Senior Instructional Staff he was appointed at the Tactics & Air Combat Development Establishment.
As he was the master of electronic warfare he captained the first electronic warfare Squadron of the Indian Air Force, consisting of MiG-21 and Canberra aircraft. He also commanded a squadron as a Chief Operations Officer of a Mirage-2000 base. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of Air Staff and was appointed in the Central air command. As a, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff he commanded South Western air command. He rose to the rank of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief and led Western Air Command. In 2001 he was given the post of Vice Chief of the Air Staff.
He was the fellow of Defense Services Staff College and National Defense College. For his outstanding performances received Param Vishist Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.
