Abhimaan, Indian MovieReleased in the year 1973, the Indian movie Abhimaan stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Asrani, David, Durga Khote, A. K. Hangal and Bindu and was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Abhimaan deals with the marital life of a couple. The film became a major hit grabbing a Filmfare Award for Jaya Bachchan in the Best Actress category. The music of this film was an instant hit, which was composed by the late S D Burman. The soulful lyrics of the songs were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Mohammed Rafi lent their voices to the music by the great maestro.

Abhimaan, Indian MoviePlot of Abhimaan
The main plot of the movie Abhimaan revolves around Subir played by Amitabh Bachchan, a successful professional singer. He leads quiet a carefree life busy with his work until he comes across Uma played by Jaya Bachchan, a simple village girl. Subir first hears Uma singing when he visits the village where his aunt resides, played by Durga Khote. He is enamoured by her voice and as he gets to know her he falls in love. Uma`s father is a classical singer and has trained her. With her father`s consent Subir and Uma get married.

Back in Mumbai, Subir continues as a singer and fosters Uma"s singing career as well. With time, Subir"s career starts to falter while Uma"s singing career thrives. An ego clash between the two almost breaks up their marriage. Subir"s pride and jealousy jeopardizes their marriage and tears their relationship apart. By the end of it, the movie finally culminates to an emotional reunion where Subir and Uma sing a heartfelt song together, which portrayed their hopes and dreams.
