Quite a handful of tribal communities persuade in every hook and nook of the state of Tripura. Amongst these tribes, the anthropologists have made a mentioning of the name of Garoo tribes. In fact these Garoo tribes are one of the major tribal communities of the same state. What is also interesting is that these Garoo tribes share a very good relation with the other tribal communities. Bhil , Bhutia, Chaima , Halam , Jamatai , Khasia etc are some of these tribes who also live with them in close proximity.
As far as the occupations are concerned, majority of this Garoo tribal community have adept to cultivation and farming. Just like any of the tribes who have resided in every corner of the Tripura state, the major food crops that these Garoo tribes produce include rice, wheat, pulses and oilseeds. Major cash crops are namely cotton, tea, sugarcane, fruits and rubber etc. In the recent times under the influence of the modern society , few of these Garoo tribes even take up professions like handloom workers , tea laborers etc.
