Bandu Patil was born on January 1, 1936. This Indian field hockey player participated at the Olympics held in the year 1964 at Tokyo. In that tournament India won the gold medal.

In the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian national hockey team participated in 9 matches, of which it managed to win 7 matches. 2 matches ended in a tie. The Indian team scored a total of 22 goals and a mere 5 goals were made against them. India beat Malaysia (3-1), Hong Kong (6-0), Canada (3-0), Holland (2-1), Australia (3-1), Belgium (2-0), but was tied with Spain and Germany. In the final, India faced off against Pakistan for the third time. The Indian team held on to its lead through constant struggle to win the 7th Olympic gold. Other than Bandu Patil, the team comprised of, Charanjit Singh, Dharam Singh, Harbinder Singh, Udham Singh, Darshan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Haripal Kaushik, Shankar Lakshman, Jagjit Singh, Victor John Peter and other eminent players.

He died on 23rd August in the year 1988.
