Hargad Fort is a hill fort
located on Selbari hill range in the Baglan area of Nashik district
. The fort was built to keep watch on the Burhanpur
ancient commercial road.
Structure of Hargad Fort
Hargad Fort has no significant construction. The top of the fort can be called as a plateau
because it is much flat and wide. There are some remnants of the fortification on the top. Ruins of a temple
, of the residential structures and a couple of rock cut water cisterns can be seen on top. There is a 14 feet long cannon lying on the fort. A cave with a temple of Goddess Kapaar Bhavani can also be found on the plateau.
Visiting Information of Hargad Fort
Presently there exists only a single way to reach the fort-top. There is a good motorable road up to the base village Mulher. This path traverses through the village
of Mulher. It takes about an hour to climb and see the fort. The pathway to the fort is made of rock cut steps.
