Army Heritage Museum is about the Indian Army and its soldiers. This heritage museum provides comprehensive information about the various regiments of Indian Army. The Army Heritage Museum was set up in May 2006, by the Army Training Command, Shimla. The history of Indian military and its Army’s heritage have been passed down from generation to generation in the form of folklore, folksongs, ballads and inaccurate narratives. The motto and culture of Indian Army is very well represented through the various items organized in various sections of this Army Heritage Museum. This heritage museum is about the Indian soldiers and their virtues, loyalty to comrades, fidelity to an oath, courage under stress, about their mind set and military thinking, passed down from generations for over 5000 years; about regiments and the intense regimental pride which they so passionately treasure, about Indian captains of war and their contribution which make an Indian proud.

Artefacts of Army Heritage Museum
The arms and weapons that were used in the war are also displayed in the museum. The collection has ancient items like bows and arrows, swords, spears and also has many modern ammunition including AK-47. The surrender letter that Pakistan signed during the 1971 war is exhibited in the museum. Army uniforms dating back to pre-independence time as well as after the Independence are kept here. There is a separate section where important achievements of the great Indian warriors are described. Medals, rewards and awards of the Indian Army are also displayed here. Many of these medals depict strong bonding between the Royal Nepal Army and the Indian Army.
Visitors get to know about the warriors like courageous Maharana Pratap, Rani Lakshmibai, Shivaji Maharaja, Guru Gobind Singh, Tipu Sultan, etc. who never gave an inch to the outsiders and died heroic deaths. Visitors would also get to know about the modern warriors like Field Marshal Manekshaw, Carriappaa and many others who died a great death in order to save their country from intruders.
