Narsingh Pancham Yadav, Indian WrestlerNarsingh Pancham Yadav is an Indian wrestler hailing from Uttar Pradesh. He won the gold medal in the Asian Championships in the year 2010.

Early Life of Narsingh Pancham Yadav
Narsingh Pancham Yadav was born on 6th August in the year 1989. Narsingh Pancham Yadav is the son of Pancham Yadav and Bhulna Devi from eastern Uttar Pradesh. Narsingh and his brother Vinod Pancham Yadav both lived with their father Pancham, a milk distributor in Mumbai, while his mother lived in the Neema village in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, where she looked after farming in their 2 bigha land.

Career of Narsingh Pancham Yadav
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Narsingh Pancham Yadav won the gold medal in the men`s freestyle 74 kg category. Both the brothers became wrestlers. Yadav has been training since he was 13 and is currently a resident of suburban Jogeshwari in Mumbai. Narsingh is a DSP with the Maharashtra Government. Narsingh Pancham Yadav won a gold medal in the Asian championships, in freestyle 74 kg, in 2010.

At 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, Narsingh Pancham Yadav was a last-minute replacement and competed in the men`s freestyle 74 kg category. Narsingh Pancham Yadav managed to surprise everyone and won the gold medal, beating Richard Brian Addinall of South Africa in the gold medal bout.

In Melbourne, Australia, Narsingh Pancham Yadav finished second in the Commonwealth Championship and won the silver medal, losing in the final bout to Cleopas Ncube of Canada.

At the Olympics in London, Narsingh Pancham Yadav lost his opening bout against Matt Gentry of Canada in the 74 kg freestyle event and was knocked out of the tournament.

Narsingh Pancham Yadav in 2014 Asian Games
In the Round of 16 in Incheon, South Korea, Narsingh Pancham Yadav lost 1:3 to Rashid Kurbanov of Uzbekistan. With the Uzbek grappler qualifying for the final, Narsingh Pancham Yadav was able to compete for a medal through the repechage round where he first faced Ramazan Kambarov of Turkmenistan and beat him 4:1. In the bronze medal bout, Narsingh Pancham Yadav was successful in securing the bronze medal with a 3:1 win over Daisuke Shimada of Japan.

Awards Received by Narsingh Pancham Yadav
In honour of his bronze medal, Narsingh Pancham Yadav along with Seema Punia was awarded a cash prize of Rs.50 lakh by the state government of Uttar Pradesh.

Narsingh Pancham Yadav who has been included in the 74 kg category in the absence of double-Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, lost to Daisuke Shimada of Japan 9-12 in the qualification round but qualified for the repechage round after his Japanese rival reached the final.

Narsingh Pancham Yadav in 2016 Olympics
After winning India`s sole medal at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships, Narsingh Pancham Yadav booked himself a ticket to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But his spot at the Olympics is currently in contention with Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar also vying for that same berth.
