Birth of Lord Mahavira
Lord Mahavir was born to the king of Kundagram, Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. His birth brought good fortune for the entire kingdom and so his father named him ‘Vardhamana, meaning one that flourishes endlessly. As a child he was very courageous and showed aversion to worldly affairs and inclination towards religious affairs.
Attainments of Lord Mahavira
He succeeded in attaining complete control over carnal self. He acquired the status of Digambar Muni in Vaishali’s Kundagram. Gyatkhand Park is the place where he shed all his clothes and ornaments while continuously reciting the mantra, "Om Namah Siddhebhayah". He delivered his first speech on Dharma near Rajgir on Vipulachala Hill. ‘Live and Let others Live’ is the main motto of Jainism.
