Career of Arun Vijay
Arun Vijay, for his acting debut, signed on for an A. R. Rahman musical titled Love Story, but the delay of the project meant that he accepted Anbalaya Films' offer of Sundar C.'s directed Murai Mappillai, that released in the year 1995. Ever since then, Vijay has appeared in several Tamil films, some being moderate hits while others failing to create a grip at the box office. He changed his name from Arunkumar to Arun Vijay in October 2006, hoping that a new name would bring better luck for him.
In 2009, Arun Vijay opted against starring in low budget films and decided to collaborate with his father-in-law's production house Feather Touch Entertainment, for his future projects. The first venture, Malai Malai directed by A. Venkatesh, released in 2009 and became a commercial success and the next film, Maanja Velu, by the same team, released in 2010 and was also a success. He then appeared in Magizh Thirumeni's action-thriller Thadaiyara Thaakka, released in 2012, featuring alongside Mamta Mohandas. The movie became a Super Hit at the box office. After Thadaiyara Thaakka, Arun starred in Yennai Arindhaal, playing the role of the antagonist Victor in the film. Arun's performance brought an overwhelming response from the audience. He was well appreciated for his dedication and hard work, while his work was also recognised with the Edison Award for Best Villain, at the Edison Awards of the Tamil film industry. The same year, he made his debut in the Telugu Cinema, with the film Bruce Lee - The Fighter, as the lead antagonist. The film received decent review from critics and performed well at the box office, grossing 37 Crores INR. The actor is now making his Kannada film debut with Chakravyuha, releasing on April 29, 2016, and will also be featuring in his fourth successive film under the Feather Touch Entertainment banner, Vaa Deal, co-starring Karthika Nair.
