Duleep Trophy, 2014-15 was a first class domestic cricket tournament, where the 5 zonal team from India contested. These teams are Central Zone, East Zone, North Zone, South Zone and West Zone. This tournament is formatted according to the knock-out basis.
Duleep Trophy, 2014- 2015 was the 54th season of the Duleep Trophy, a first-class cricket tournament in regional level. In this tournament Central Zone won after beating South Zone by 9 runs in the final at New Delhi.
Duleep Trophy 2014 -2015 consisted of four matches played between the teams, where the two teams that performed the worst in the 2013-14 season of the Duleep Trophy, East Zone and West Zone, had to play each other in an additional knockout game to progress to the semi-final matches.
History of Duleep Trophy
Duleep Trophy was started by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the 1961-1962 seasons. The inaugural tournament was won by West Zone who defeated South Zone in the final by 10 wickets. In the 1962-1963 seasons, four of the five teams had their bowling attacks strengthened by a West Indies Test cricketer. At that time, Central Zone Cricket team was not formed. North Zone and West Zone have been the most successful teams with 18 wins each, though North's total includes one shared trophy and West's three.
