Situated along the west coast of the Arabian Sea, it serves as a prominent tourist destination. The beach also hosts the spectacular confluence of the Chettuva or Chavakkad River and the sea, known as estuary. The meeting point is called Azhimokam in Malayalam.

Chavakkad Beach reveals an untamed natural beauty as it is quite unexplored by the domestic tourists. The sea shore is bordered by coconut trees and rare natural landscapes which present an enticing sketch of nature. Chavakkad Beach is ideal for the tourists seeking rare scenic beauties.

Chavakkad Beach is further ornamented with fringed shadow of coconut lagoons, captivating serene environs and pristine sea water which attracts tourists throughout the year. On the other side of the beach is located a vast farmland of an Ayurvedic herb known as Ramacham. The farm is called Ramachapadam. Chavakkad Beach is quite secluded and thus offers an enchanting tranquillity where one can spend a peaceful time away from the hustles and bustles of the city. The famous Guruvayoor Temple is located near the beach, at a distance of 5 kilometres.

Chavakkad Beach is also visited by a variety of gorgeous migratory birds including Eurasian Oystercatcher, Siberian Seagull and many more which flock around the beach. The birds parade on the beach, unconcerned about the humans around them. The mesmerizing vista of these beautiful winged species at the beach can be best cherished from September to April. Watching the floating birds at the beach are added attractions. Thus the beach offers a close rendezvous with the charming beauties of nature.

Visiting Information
Chavakkad Beach has good connectivity of roadways, railways and airways. National Highway 17 passes through the town of Chavakkad, coming from Kochi in its south and proceeding to Mangalore towards north. Buses and cabs can be availed for reaching the beach. Guruvayur Railway Station serves as the nearest railway station whereas for long distance trains Thrissur Railway Station is more appropriate. Cochin International Airport, 80 Kilometres away, is the nearest airport where both domestic as well as international flights are available.
