Early Life of Jual Oram Jual Oram was born on 22nd March 1961 at a village called Kendudihi in the Sundargarh district of the Indian state Odisha. He along with his family had lived a life of deprivation owing to which he decided to join politics and work for the betterment of the poor. He has a Diploma Degree in Electrical Engineering and before joining Indian politics, he used to work for the renowned company BHEL for five years. In the company he worked as an Assistant Foreman, Power Group Construction Division. Political Career of Jual Oram Jual Oram began his political career in the year 1990 when he contested the assembly election representing the Bonai constituency. He won the election with a substantial margin and marked the beginning of his growing political graph. He has handled a number of significant posts including the member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. He has also been the member of numerous high-profile committees of the Union Government as well as of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the year 1998 he was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha and on 13th October 1999 he created history by being India?s first ever Union Minister for Tribal Affairs. The ministry was created for the first time in the history of independent India by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Jual Oram has extensively worked for the cause of tribal welfare and upliftment of the poor sections of the India society. He took a number of initiatives for the betterment of downtrodden and weaker classes of society, especially the tribals, throughout the country. Jual Oram has also been the member of 14th Lok Sabha of India. He also serves as the Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is also amongst the two founding Legislative Assembly Members from the BJP in Odisha. For over four years he has been the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state of Odisha. |
