Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande is an illustrious Hindustani classical music vocalist who is regarded as one of the milestone to the Indian classical music genre. Near about for two decades Ashwini Bhide has been ruling over the arena of music and has earned a distinct place amongst the brilliant Indian classical vocalists of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. She was born into the family of musicians in Mumbai. Her musical career started with her induction to the Indian classical music under the expert tutelage of Pandit Narayanrao Datar. Afterwards the journey of this renowned classical vocalist began.
Early Life of Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande
Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande was born in the year 1960 on 7th October. After having initial training under Pandit Narayanrao Datar, she has obtained her Sangeet Visharad from the Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya. Her mother Smt. Manik Bhide, the senior-most disciples of Kishori Amonkar, subsequently started giving training to her talented daughter. Her mother inserted the fundamentals of the Jaipur Antrauli Gharana in order to enrich the style of Ashwini Bhide. She has obtaining training under this Gharana's protagonist Pandit Ratnakar Pai till the latter's death in 2009. Under her mother's guidance, Ashwini Bide won the All India Radio competition. This competition is considered to be one of the most all-encompassing talent searches. She holds Masters Degree in Microbiology and a doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Mumbai.
Career of Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande
Although Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande has received acclamations in the realm of music since her teens, she did not pursue a full fledged career in music till the completion of her doctorate. Since 1980s she has performed in and around the world. Her audience enjoys a copious presence of her on the concert platform. Other than India she has carried through many of the major music festivals and conferences. To name a few, the Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan, the Dover Lane Music Conference, the Tansen Festival, and the ITC SRA Sangeet Sammelan. For execution of her gayaki, she has in an extensive manner toured U.S., Europe, Australia and Japan. She has made countless concerts in those countries. She has also performed in Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav in Pune, Maharashtra.
Today Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande has fetched a distinct position in the domain of Indian classical music by establishing her own style. Other than that she also holds a strong authority over the three octaves. However using her immense talent she has composed many bandish to her credit. All of them are published in a book written by her, namely "Ragarachananjali". Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande's calibre as a powerful teacher has also earned her a number of disciples who have marked their presence in the world of music such as Revati Kamat, Saili Oak Kalyanpur, Dhanashree Ghaisas, Poorvi Tonpay and Saniya Kulkarni-Patankar. As recognition to her talent she has been conferred many accolades. Ashwini is serving as a top grade artist of All India Radio.
