Versions of Ganesha Sahasranama
The Ganesha Sahasranama has 2 main versions, and each version includes sub- variants. One of the versions is presented in the Ganesha Purana, which is an ancient upapurana exclusively dedicated to the Lord. It is an important religious text of the Ganapatya sect. This account provides a comprehensive assessment of the characteristics and roles of Lord Ganesha based on the perception of the Ganapatyas. Bhaskararaya composed a commentary on a subvariant of this version of the Sahasranama in Sanskrit language. The commentary of Bhaskararaya was titled as Khadyota.

The second version of the Ganesha Sahasranama includes the list of the names which begin with the letter "G". This major version is entirely different from the other major edition. The names mentioned in this version and its structure has no similarity with the Ganesha Purana.
